Regents of the North Central Texas Community College District heard an update on the Completion Center last week from Completion Center Manager Amy Klohn. Klohn outlined some of the services that the Completion Center offers to students, including success coaching, career development and job placement services. The success coaching helps students to manage their short- and long-term educational goals, address time management skills, develop test-taking strategies and more. The completion center is currently halfway through year two of a five-year project. The center has already been able to reach more than 1,500 new-to-college students through success coaching. These services are free and available to students on all five of NCTC’s campuses. Regents also approved the transfer of $2 million in board reserves to fund facilities-related projects in the 600 building on the Gainesville campus. With these funds, the 600 building will be transformed into a student hub, housing a new dining and student services facility. Vice president of administrative affairs Robbie Baugh presented a food services contract renewal to the board. The board approved the five-year contract with Great Western Dining for the fiscal years 2017-22, at an 11 percent increase in cost. Great Western Dining Services has been the sole provider of remote nurse educator jobs food services on the Gainesville campus since 1994.
